Care Concierge

While we may work for an organisation that provides care and housing for later life, many of us will be unfamiliar with how to access services like ours for loved ones. That is why we offer access to a free service to help you understand, find and fund later life care

As an Anchor colleague you have access to Care Concierge from Legal & General – a free and confidential telephone advisory service that supports older people and their families to navigate the later life journey.

Later life care is generally something that people never plan for and often hits families at a time of crisis. Navigating the social care system and determining the options available to your loved ones can be very confusing. This fantastic service gives you access to extensive information and guidance when it comes to caring for a loved one.

What sort of things can they help with?

There are many things, but some key areas of support are:

  • Exploring Government and NHS funding that might be available to pay for your care needs
  • Benefit entitlements
  • Finding immediate or future care
  • Understanding mental capacity and Powers of Attorney
  • Access to expert care financial advice
  • Understanding care funding rules, i.e can you give your money away to avoid paying for care?

Whatever questions you might have, Legal & General’s care experts are waiting to hear from you. They will be able to assist with any later life care questions, whether you are planning ahead for yourself or supporting an older family member.

Caring can be in many forms, it’s not just helping loved ones with bathing and dressing. If you frequently provide the following types of support you are likely to be a carer;

  • Picking up shopping
  • Help with cleaning
  • Accompanying loved ones to appointments
  • Collecting prescriptions
  • Making up the bed
  • Providing emotional support
  • Looking at home adaptations

There’s lots to consider when it comes to funding care and the Care Concierge service can put you in touch with Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs) specialising in care funding advice. Your initial call to most of those IFAs will be free, with fee structures applying thereafter.

I used the L&G Care Concierge service and it’s a good service for anyone in the initial stages of thinking about care for a loved one. Thanks for this benefit, it’s really appreciated.
