Season Ticket and Commuter Club Scheme

As part of our sustainability commitments, we encourage colleagues, where possible, to use public transport and sustainable modes of transport to commute to work.

As well as providing tax-efficient ways to get a bike or electric vehicle, we can also help you spread the cost of public transport with a season ticket loan or help you save £10 per month with the First Bus Commuter Club.

Commuter Club
Colleagues in the Bradford/West Yorkshire area can access discounted monthly tickets by signing up here.  It’s free to join, simply sign up online by selecting ‘Anchor’ from the drop down and using your anchor email address.  You will need to set up a monthly direct debit but the price is frozen for 12 months.  Mobile tickets are delivered straight to the free and easy-to use First Bus app.

Season Ticket Loan

Eligible colleagues can get an interest-free loan to cover the cost of an annual season ticket to commute to work by train, bus or tram.  These loans are repaid through payroll (after tax) over 10 months and classed as an advance on your salary.

All colleagues on permanent fixed hour contracts with at least six months’ service can request a season ticket loan.  However, your request cannot be for more than £2,000 or your normal monthly take home pay (if less than £2,000 per month).

Please note a season ticket loan is only for an annual travel pass.  Requests for a loan to cover monthly or quarterly travel passes will not be approved.

You can request a loan for up to a maximum of £2,000 or your normal monthly take home pay (if less than £2,000 per month).

Please note a season ticket loan is only for an annual travel pass.  Requests for a loan to cover monthly or quarterly travel passes will not be approved.

You will need to pay for your annual season ticket first and then send proof of purchase with your name and details of the travel route (e.g. a screenshot of your travel pass).  You must have purchased the ticket within the last month, salary advances can not be made for past purchases.

Once your request has been reviewed and approved it will be sent for payment.  Payment will be to the bank account where your monthly salary is paid.  This may take up to five working days.

You’ll pay the loan back directly from your salary in the next 10 paydays after you receive the loan.

If you leave Anchor (including through TUPE transfer) before you pay off the loan, you will have to repay the outstanding balance in full from your pay before you leave.

If you leave Anchor (including through TUPE transfer) before you pay off the loan, you will have to repay the outstanding balance in full from your pay before you leave.

Repayments will continue to be made whilst you are being paid.  Repayments will be put on hold whilst you are on a period of unpaid sick or family leave.

If you leave Anchor (including through TUPE transfer) before you pay off the loan, you will have to repay the outstanding balance in full before you leave.

You will need to submit a request on this e-form  and upload a copy of proof of purchase (e.g. screenshot of your travel card with your name and price on it).

Once approved, payment is usually made within five working days to the bank account your salary is paid into.

An annual season ticket will not be the most cost efficient or suitable option for all colleagues, and you are encouraged to research all your options with your local transport provider.

For example, some train companies offer flexible season tickets designed for colleagues who only travel into work two or three times a week and some bus companies offer deals to bulk purchase a ‘book’ of days tickets at a reduced cost.
