Help@hand - your
new health app

Your health is hugely important to us, so we’ve teamed up with Help@hand to give you access to four handy medical services for free.

Unprecedented NHS strain can make getting everyday healthcare tricky. Help@hand’s valuable services for you and your eligible family mean you can speak to someone quickly from the comfort of your home, at a time convenient to you.

Eligible colleagues can access Help@hand, a completely confidential digital health service giving you access to five health services via one easy-to-use app: 
  • 24/7, unlimited remote GP video appointments – so you can get fast access to a doctor at a time convenient to you, day or night. You will be liable for charges for medication and delivery, referral letters and private fit notes.  Available to you, your partner and children until their 18 birthday (24 if in full time education).  You can choose between a traditional phone call or a video call. Please note this is not an emergency service and you should call 111 or 999 for urgent assistance.
  • Unlimited mental health support – from qualified mental healthcare professionals, subject to clinical appropriateness, for you and your partner. For mild to moderate issues. Number of sessions subject to clinical appropriateness. Should the service be no longer suitable, users will be directed to alternative appropriate support.
  • Physiotherapy — eight sessions a year shared between you and your partner, usually virtual appointments.
  • Medical second opinions – access to two UK-based private consultants a year, following a final diagnosis, shared between you and your partner and children aged 16 – 18 (or 24 if in full time education).
  • Lifestyle Coaching – complete the in-app questionnaire to unlock 6 video lifestyle consultations a year

You’ll get a welcome email from help-at-hand@squarehealth.com within your first month of joining, which explains how to download the app from the App Store or Google Play and provides a temporary password to get you started.  If your password has expired, please follow the instructions in the email to reset. Please note invites are sent out mid-month for new starters in the previous month.

If you have previously registered but can’t remember, please use the forgotten password options in the app to reset.

Can’t find your invite email? Check your junk folder and check the email we have on MyHR for you.  If you can’t locate your email, simply download the app and follow the forgotten password option to generate a new code.  You can get assistance by emailing Help@hand directly – help-at-hand@squarehealth.com.

All colleagues on permanent fixed hours contracts are eligible to register for Help@hand.  If you have not had your invite email yet from help-at-hand@squarehealth.com, drop reward@anchor.org.uk a note and we’ll sort it out for you.

It is free to access the core services on the app.  However, please note that any referrals to private medical professionals/facilities will need to be funded by you.  Colleagues should ask for referrals to the NHS/own GP for follow if they do not wish to pay for private health care.

Please also note you will be liable for charges for medication and delivery, referrals and fit notes.  Any prescriptions issued will be private and as such may cost more, the same or less than an NHS prescription, depending on the medication prescribed.  Private fit notes and referral letters are charged at £25 each (correct as at 06/05/24)

Eligible colleagues have access to the four health service described above for free.  However, any onward referrals are not included in your benefit.  If you do no not have private medical insurance and do not wish to pay for private treatment you will need to ask for an NHS referral back to your own GP.  

Once eligible colleagues have registered, they can share the Help@hand services with their partner and children up to 18, or up to 24 if in full-time education.  Restrictions apply on some services.

Up to eight physiotherapy sessions a year can be shared between you and your partner.  Unlimited mental health support for you and your partner for mild to moderate issues’ .  Bereavement counselling is available to you, your partner and children over the age of 16 up to their 18th birthday or 24th if in full time education.  Children are eligible to access the remote GP and medical second opinion services up until their 18th birthday or 24th if in full-time education.

Help@hand is being offered to colleagues to support their physical and mental health.  Once registered for the app you will be able to access the four core health services, plus a range of wellbeing support from on-demand wellness content and financial and legal support to lifestyle coaching.

Just complete four short in-app assessments provide your 360 Wellbeing Score, measuring your wellbeing in key areas. Once completed, this unlocks six 1-2-1 video sessions each year with a lifestyle coach for support in any areas you feel could be improved.

The vast majority of appointments for physio and mental health support are delivered through video consultation.  You may request a face to face session, and in a small number of cases you may be referred for a face to face appointment, but it is not guaranteed and the vast majority of appointments will be by video call. 

All GP appointments are remote, by phone or video call.
